Why do people think that Rudy Giuliani is not a typical politician? Do they forget that 9/11 was the best thing that happened to him? Do they forget that he was loathed in NY on 9/10? That he had a public affair with his assistant?

Haven't a clue. Heard he was the son of a mobster. But let's never forget his courageousness during 9/11. Let's see........Oh yeah, he lied and said the air was safe for the rescuers to try and dig through the rubble for survivors and now all of them have some sort of lung/respiratory problem. Some have died, all the rescue dogs have died. And what people didn't know since it wasn't in mainstream news was the very quick and deliberate removal of the remains of the towers as they were shipped to Asia to be melted down.

I thought that was a crime scene and him once being a prosecutor would know not to do something like that. I believe that's a federal offense.

Also, the people supposedly trying to look for survivors and remains were really excavating the gold that was stored in the WTC's. After that was all recovered, he ordered a major scoop and dump operation. There goes the remains of the fallen, any evidence of what really happened all on a barge. Now being used to fill potholes. That's right, human remains covering up potholes!!

What a hero indeed.....................NOT!!! HE'S SCUM AND HOPE TO GOD HE DON'T WIN PRESIDENCY!!!!

AGREED.Giuliani is the most over rated candidate I can think of.He botched the 9/11 crisis by not having an adequate plan in place for the anticipated attacks. This probably could have saved many fire fighters and civilians.Amongst other things his term as Mayor helped divide the city along class and race.He took the fun out of NEW YORK! He locked a bunch of low level offenders up and forced them to serve harsh sentences with out any eye torwards rehabilitation. He helped to take college courses from the Prisons and now all these low level offenders are getting out years later as hard core Prisoners with no idea what to do to survive in the mainstream.I'm SICK of Rudy grandstanding the 9/11 issue when he didn't do anything productive during 9/11.In fact the date 9/11 is now a cliche because he mentions it every other speech!

You can never make me think bad of Giuliani. He did a great job after 9-11. His personal life was not the issue. So you need to come up with something better than that.....slacker

I was startled at the praise he was getting for doing his job immediately after the attacks. I have always viewed him with suspicion from that event on. There is something about a politician that makes me want to vomit, but, as an occassional NYC visitor, he did turn that city around for the better. Even if 9/11 didn't occur, he clearly changed that city for the better. His meathead approach to the crime problem seemed to be pretty effective.

Not only was rudy known nationally for taking down the mob in N.Y.,he lowered taxes 23 times, and lowered the crime rate.As far as 9/11,he didn't run and hide like al gore(knowing he and his buddy cliton were responsible for not getting bin laden in the course of 8 years even though bin laden was in custody several times.)and showed the world strength in a time of national crisis.Rudy was the outgoing mayor who stayed on to help a billionaire novice mayor with no experience by coordinating the city's medical, fire, and utilities,etc....You have alot of nerve as a dem to talk about sex scandals. At least his wasn't a constitutional crisis and didn't deminish the office of the presidency.Where was billy on 9/11?Rudy spoke of unity, national pride, and lifted the spirits of this nation like what a statesman should do.For you to say he was loathed is a joke at best.He must be doing something right for you to feel the need to attack a national hero before even the first primary.

Giuliani didn't wring his hands from the sidelines. He was right there at ground zero directing and leading operations. The only people that loathed him in NY were the criminals and bleeding-heart liberals, because he took hard measures to clean up the city which was spiraling down into decay.

And yes he had an affair. If he still had a reputation for fooling around, I'd be the first one to condemn him for it. But since we are all human, I tend to judge people as to whether they have learned from their failings. Those that keep on doing wrong are the ones I worry about.

Absolutely nothing to elevate him to 'hero' status. He went on talk shows and made personal appearances to talk about the incident for the next three years after 9/11. Ask the firefighters and rescuers if they had the proper equipement to do recovery; they'll tell you they didn't and that's why many of them are getting cancer and other lung diseases and dying now.
Giuliani isn't worth the paper his name is printed on. And the fact that he moved his then mistress, now wife into Gracie Mansion and threw his own wife out, well...that speaks volumes. Can you really trust a man like that ?

Lets see if he was so smart why was I the one in the first minutes after complaining about the air quality and the one to warn everyone like the EPA about this? Yeah what a hero he is-please he didn't and still can't think of what to do!

He remained calm while he had the fallen buildings cleaned up as quickly as possible. Anyone calm during that time in New York must have been considered quite extraordinary. Therefore, he may be considered by some as a leader up to the challenge of the presidency at this time. I don't believe he has any military knowledge or vast foreign policy knowledge other than having the UN in NY.
