is the corner lot is good choice since you have neighbours from one side only but i have 2 young kids and in terms of resale value is it a good choice? thanks.

Corner lots are only good to look at. You are able to keep neighbors yards away from yours but you loose a lot of play area. For usefulness try to find where you can place the house closer to front and increase the back yard.

Depends on the area that you are planning to build in, I would talk to the people in the area and find out if there are a lot of accident related to drunk driving and if the accidents happen in or around the empty lot that you are looking to buy and build on. If there are lots of drunk driving accidents in the area, then go with a lot that is protected on three sides so you don't need to worry about your 2 kids if they are in the backyard playing by themselves.
