Honey Gourami: because they are slow moving, peaceful fish and are colorful.
The Cherry Barb: because again are very peaceful, and as they mature they develop a very pretty red color. Unlike other quick moving barbs, it is a slow mover. They are very hardy.
Red lined Rasbora: because most are excellent community fish and very hardy and are very tolerant of pH readings in the acid range.
Corydoras Catfish, Red Tail Shark, Lemon Tetra, Celebes Rainbowfish...wow, so many. All mainly due to either their peaceful community nature and color, or both.

That's a tough question to answer because I like too many!
Two that I've kept that I really like are Congo tetras and Emperor tetras.
The Congo tetras (http://www.aquatic-plants.org/gallery/albums/cameron-fish/2003_10_19_CRW_9124_male_congo_tetra.jpg ) have a very colorful iridescence as adults and seem to "sparkle' under the right conditions. I'm not really sure why I like the emperors (http://dir.biglobe.ne.jp/col/pet/aquarium/closeup/CU20030110A/emperortetra2.jpg ) - maybe it's the blue eyes, or that they're easy to sex - males have a backward projection from the center of the tail that females don't). This makes it easier if you want to spawn them to know you're buying both sexes. Maybe because not as many stores carry these as some of the other tetras.
Another I like is the threadfin rainbowfish (http://www.thegoldfishbowl.co.uk/images/articles/A-ATHE-028.jpg ). These may not be as colorful as other rainbows, but I like the delicate look of their fins.
One that I haven't kept, but would like to sometime in the future is the Denison barb, also known as a rose-line shark (http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_Puntius_denisonii.php ). The photo was the best I could find, but doesn't do the fish justice. I was very impressed the first time I saw these fish with their colors! Right now, they are being imported, so the cost is higher (around $20-40 per fish), and like most barbs, they should be kept in a school. At 6" and active, these are a little too big for your tank!

PLATIES!! coz' they're cute, beautiful, peace lovin', stays small (which is good), cheap, and you can feed them anything you want ( i once gave mine some chicken meat and they like it), if you dont have time feeding them, they can still eat the algae in yur tank. also a hardy fish and not hard to breed!! seriously this is one of the fish recommended 4 beginers.

i recognize my Serpae Tetras. they don't look to be aggressive in any respect and they appreciate swimming around the completed tank. they are extremely to look at to boot. I even had a guppy %. on my serpae and he under no circumstances attacked back.

I wonder if I'll get slammed for this:
My blood parrot cichlid. Yes..I know they're manmade hybrids and some call them Frankenfish...but...
My parrot is a bright coral, round and chubby, always a smile on his face (can't shut his mouth!). Even though he's a cichlid and territorial, he's well-suited to community life because he's not very quick and his mouth is kind of useless for fish attacks :) He gets along with a weather loach, a gold severum, a jack dempsey, golden danios, blue gouramis, platys...AND...even a male betta. (They aren't all in the same tank anymore..had to upgrade tank size and split them up then)
He's still my all-time fave community fish.

i like mollies and guppies because they are low maintenance and they give out more little fish to keep the tank breathing with fresh life :)

Probably either lemon tetras or checkerboard barbs because they are both very peaceful. I also like the subtle but beautiful color of the lemons and the nice patterns on the checkerboards.
