A place in Greece that isn't full of tourists, has nice beaches and alot of history?

What place would you recommend?

It's not so easy to find such a place, usually Greece is full of tourists in the summer. I think you should try Parga, near Preveza, where there are so many to see, so many and also unknown ancient greek remains.
One, even more beautiful place, is Kavala and the beaches nearby, Karianni,Keramoti,Nea Peramos, all very very clean. You can find there the ancient theatre of Phillipi, the prison of San Pavlos. From the port of Kavala you can visit in half an hour the island Thassos, with SPLENDID BEACHES (you should see them) and also the ancient Akropolis of the island, ancient remains but no famous historic events. ANother place is the island Samothraki, very very very good choice!Plendy of history (search for Kaviri, mystic retuals in ancient Greece), also many churches, but I don't know anything about it's beaches.
The best choice you could maid though, if you are a male,is to find something near Mont Athos (one of the 3 monastic states in the world, along with Sina and Tibeth). So, you could go to Ouranoupolis or even better to Ammuliani,a very small island, near Mont Athos. I would do it in your place, I would choose this last, but the vacation is yours.

Try Naxos, Siphnos or Milos. In Naxos keep in mind that you need to hire a car to visit all the monuments and beaches, it's a big island. Kos has great beaches too, and arcaheaological sites, and even though it is very touristy, it is a big island and you can avoid "bad" tourism if you stay away from Kardamena and night clubs.

I would recommend you Rhodes my island, but it is full of tourists.So, PATMOS without second thought.
