Sears is notorious for not supporting their products like this. I had a refrigerator that was only two years old and there was no manual available. Maybe you can call a local technician. He may have this type of experience that he can walk you through over the phone. Calling Sears is useless unless it is an actual repair you need.

TRYING TO RESET THE WASHER "TIMES"..... ? I THINK YOU MEAN TIMER. IF SO IT CAN NOT BE RESET. THE CAMS INSIDE THE TIMER ARE MOLDED AND FIXED-NOT ADJUSTABLE. YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO FIND A TIMER OFF OF ANOTHER OLD KENMORE/WHIRLPOOL THAT YOU COULD MAKE WORK IF YOU INVESTIGATED THE MACHINE A BIT. YOUR MACHINE IS A 1982 MODEL. YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF FINDING A WORKING MACHINE IN CRAIGSLIST.COM, ALTHOUGH IF YOU WANT TO TRY SWAPPING TIMERS IT IS ALWAYS AN INTERESTING EXPERIMENT. UH OH, I NOW SEE IT'S A DIGITAL CONTROL. THAT, TO ME, MEANS IT IS A THROW AWAY, ALMOST FOR SURE. I THINK IT IS TOO OLD TO BUY ANY MANUAL. SEARS WILL HAVE ONE AVAILABLE TO THEMSELVES, MAYBE.

Go to Sears onlne. Most, if not all of their models have web based or downloadable owners manuals available. Good luck.

I agree with # 2. I have often used Sears.com, clicked parts and service, clicked in a part number, finding not only the part, picture, but often details in the form of an "exploded view" of the entire appliance, etc.
Without knowing the age of your washer, I have to believe and have found parts for products dating to 10 years and more.
In your case, with regard to a manual, perhaps they don't strictly have them available in printed form, but perhaps a download? Service techs within the context of the site also advise. Obviously timers are sealed and set in the manufacturing process specific to the appliance.
