Generally, you open up a second browser window or tab and go to your email in that second window/tab. That way you can be online at multiple websites at one time.

For example, I currently have my email in one tab, this answer in another, and a list of search results in yet another.

Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox both do "Tabbed Browsing".

Click on the Help Tab in either to learn how to use Tabs.

if the website is on the same service as your email and the ids are different you have to open a different browser...for example, you have a yahoo id like webpageid@yaoo.com and your email is myemail@yahoo.com and you are using geocities or the webpageid@yahoo.com to update your webpage......and you are logged in using th eyahoo browser or IE.....what you need to do is either open Firefox or IE and go to the mail page....as long as you do not have the yahoo toolbar installed or running, you should be able to login using the other id, and as long as the browsers are different, you should be able to run both at the same time.
