If its nice go to a local park that has porta potties, swings and lots or room to run around. Bring a blanket, baby wipes, ,jug of kool aid and sanwiches, garbage bag, bandaids and a camera. ENJOY!!!!
If its rainy, set up a "fort" over your kitchen table with blankets and serve sanwiches and kool aid in the fort. Play word games(How many fruits can you name that begin with M? How many states can you name? etc.)

Hello there, I suggest you go to the local park and feed the ducks/animals and take a picnic, some parks have activities and play areas in some instances you can leave the little darlings to play and have a few Min's to yourself having a coffee/smoke or both. Days out with someone does not have to cost the earth, I'm sure you have noticed that even though you spend a fortune at Christmas for THE present, sometimes it just the box they play with more......just remember that......you are making memories with them...cost should not come into it.
Good luck and have fun

you need to additionally cram her crammed with sugar before you get there and permit her run around like a wild animal. Oh wait...yeah, i'm sorry, that's what MY boss does before she drags in her strange little ankle biter. beef or beef ribs. the two way they are meaty and that they are yummy! Mornin' warm stuff!

see if a carneval is in town if not go to the movies and bowling or to a museum (if you have the right kids) you could go to a zoo or you could go to a good times or chuckie cheeze (i personally hate the last two but just putting them out there)

Pic nic. All you need is a basket of food, a park and maybe a ball or frisby. And you can have fun all day. Well unless its rainin'! LOL

As you don't say where you are, I cannot recommend anywhere in particular but, if the weather is not good enough for the park or beach, museums can be good places to go.

Plant flowers, read to them, tell ghost stories, do creative writing and everyone read their stories aloud, pick up trash, recycle aluminum cans, go horseback riding, go bicycle riding, hike on a hiking trail.

You didn't specify ages or what sort of things your children like, but here is an idea - http://www.diggerland.com/ Diggerland - we took my nephew there once and he loved it (and so did my dad!)
Alternatively, ice-skating always goes down well, or swimming...
