1.Fertilization is the union/fusion of two haploid gametes to reconstitute a diploid cell - a cell with the potential to become a new individual.
In animals, the process involves a sperm fusing with an ovum, which eventually leads to the development of an embryo.

2. Germ Cell or Sex cell (sperm or egg), contain only half (haploid) the usual number of chromosomes that other cells contain. The sex cells (sperm and egg), which transmit genetic information from one generation to the next. The somatic cells or the cells other than sex cells are diploid. Having only 23 chromosomes, sex cells are called haploid

3. During anaphase II the centromeres divide, and the two chromatids of each chromosome start moving towards opposite poles.

4.diploid -(Diploid Refers to the chromosome complement of normal body cells, which have two copies of each chromosome (one inherited from the mother and one from the father)

5. Haploid
(Haploid Refers to the chromosome complement of sex cells (i.e. sperm or egg cells), which have only one copy of each chromosome, and therefore have half the number of chromosomes found in other cells of the body)

Fertilization happens when a sperm joins an egg, or when two gametes join together.

Sex cells are haploid while the rest of the body cells are diploid.

Centromeres divide during anaphase 2. Not anaphase 1 when the pairs of homologous chromosomes are pulled apart from each other.

Diploid.
Haploid.
