marriange counseling did not help me and my wife. she had a few sessions with the counseler and i had a few and we had a couple sessions togather. on the third sessision as a couple the counseler dismissed us and said we had a very unconventional marrage and that neither of us would change so she could not help us. i instigated the counseling needing an answer to "should i divorce her?" we are still togather but there is a gulf between us emotionally and physically.

nope, it didn't work unless the couple put in effort to work it out themselves...marriage counselling is like a piece of advice but it doesn't help the couple to pull thru like the effort does...there's no point attending a marriage counselling session if both the man and woman do not take the initiative to make their marriage works

It didn't work.
When the counselor asked him "What problems do you see in the marriage?" and his answer was "I don't have any problems, they're all HERS"..It was pretty much doomed, and even the counselor knew it.
Counseling only works if both people really want things better. It takes two people to make it work. It only takes one person to totally screw it up.

It helped us a lot. Our counselor was able to show us how we see things differently. I'm more emotional and he's more logical. It also helped us to fight fairly and to stay focused on the subject of the disagreement.
