I dont think in general that men read as much as women. They seem to read things like the newspaper (even if its just sports) and maybe an article or two, but basically I think women read more novels, magazines, etc. There are some men tho who do like reading novels and stuff, or professional journals, etc. He probably is not making up an excuse tho and I think that holds true for any age, not just the younger ones.

I read all the time. If they're giving a lame excuse, it's probably just a peer pressure thing. I have a theory that teens don't like to read because the books they read in school bore them, so they associate boredom with books. It's a little weird for me to think a 20 year old won't read. Get him to read something from Robert Ludlum (The Bourne Identity), Vince Flynn (Transfer of Power), Dan Brown (Angels and Demons) or James Patterson (Lifeguard) if he's looking for some good action thrillers.

I think you shouldn't have excluded guys on that since they are they ones who know if they read. In my opinion I think it is an excuse as many younger men do other things that he doesn't do either. My bf had a better excuse : 'books have no photos!'

My sisters, mom and I are always reading. We buy books all the time then squabble over who should have them first, who should be passed them next etc! My weekly trips to my sisters house wouldn't be the same without this 'tradition'. We've always loved books and I'm hoping always will be able to enjoy them. A good book gives us pleasure and relaxation.
My dad loves to read, mostly Jeffery Archer but he's the only male I know who does. My partner doesn't and neither do my brother in laws..... They don't know what they're missing!

My husband was 21 when we got married, he's now 27, and the only thing I have ever seen him read are the Kelly Blue Book, car magazines, and junk mail. I don't think the not reading depends on age, just the person, male or female.

There are a heck of a lot of young men who never read anything other than the back of a newspaper for the latest sports news, but thankfully there are also a lot of intellectual young guys out there who are avid readers of interesting books and long may they be readers.

That is not true. Your boyfriend is just making a poor excuse. I know a lot of young guys that read, including myself. I have gained a huge amount of knowledge from reading.

He pulled out a e book and that i asked him what he grew to become into examining and he informed me Anna Karenina by Tolstoy. He pronounced he offered it interior the e book shop interior the airport and he grew to become into already just about a million/2 way by. i presumed it grew to become into humorous, via fact I had only complete examining that some weeks earlier. When I was younger, I was more likely to be reading than doing just about anything else.
