Pittsburgh, PA passed an ordinance some years ago (late 80s early 90s?) prohibiting people from parking in thier own driveways! does anybody remember this and why was such a silly law passed?

Sounds like you're either a victim of Urban Legend, or are confused about a legitimate ordinance.

Many places have restrictions on how close to a driveway entrance you can get when street parking. It would be easy to see how someone would take "you can't park too close to your own driveway" and run in the wrong direction with that, in the Internet age of screwed-up online misinformation..

But they still allow people to drive on the parkways.

now i have heard a lot of stupid things in my life but this one is totally retarded. I too want to know the answer to this.
