My husband use to work rediculously long hrs and wasn't seeing me or the kids that often so he changed jobs and we're all a lot happier.
If you have kids then choose family as they are only kids once and they will remember that you weren't there as they were growing up.

Yea, so what, both are required in life and it is alot of work, but family should always comes first. Those children didn't ask to be born. That was your decision.
If you don't take care of your family, like you take care of your job, then maybe you will get a raise, but you will be making a terrible mistake, because eventually you will get a divorce and your children will suffer. They will always remember who came first and you will loose their respect. As they grow they will make you unhappy and you will really feel it when you don't come first in their life, especially when your going to need them someday. You get what you give.
You could always get another job, but you could never replace your family. I can't believe a good wife and mother could even ask that question. Who do you love more?
Stupid, stupid question.

You have to learn to balance them. You can't work so much that your family suffers, and yet you have to make the job happy for the paycheck.
My balance was I had a job that paid well enough, and still allowed me time with my family. I didn't care about the promotions and heading into management. I'm glad I did it that way. Your children are only young once. You don't want to miss it.

Assuming the realtionship is stable: Work first.
Family is sustained by my paycheck. I have to go to work. Now, if my child is ill, I will stay home, ok?
Otherwise, we get up and out so I can be to work on time. We settle in at a decent hour at night so I can get to work in the morning. There are work hours and non working hours. Non working is family time.
If you really want to get philosophical Work time is family time too because that is how I provide for them.

It's good to find the balance. You need work to have money and professional acknowledge. But you still need family, a house to come by and relax, people to love and offer you beautiful moments and memories.
Both are required in life.

I couldn't do both, so I chose family. Yes, I am poorer, but I'm not tired and stressed. It was my choice. You must make yours.
