My opinion is ,he was a rich son of a rich family who discovered he would never have a political voice. He went to Afghanistan supported by anti soviet americans and helped beat the russians, arriving home discovered he was still an insignificance in his own land ,and that gave him a sense of greivance which channeled itself through other religious insignificants who had no hope of temporal power and hey presto we have al quaida. If the mullahs get full temporal power in the middle east he and al zarqawi will be among the first with their backs to the wall .The nail that sticks up will be the first to be hammered

He was a renegade and a younger brother; I think definitely influenced by one of his older brothers.

Mahrous Bin Laden joined a rebel group opposed to the Saudi government in the 1960s. He was the enabler of the Grand Mosque seizure in Mecca in 1979, smuggling 500 Iranian rebels and weapons into the mosque using Bin Laden company trucks. All of his accomplices were beheaded, but Bin Laden was spared through the intervention of his father. Mahrous continues to serve on the Bin Laden Company board, and is currently head of the Medina branch of the company.

The seizure took place during the Haj, when the Mosque was full of innocent pilgrims. Hundreds of people were taken hostage, and many were killed.

Mahrous Bin Laden and his accomplices were called "Islamic fundamentalists" at the time.

Osama Bin Laden is said to be heavily influenced by the (Egyptian-based) Muslim Brotherhood, one member being university professor Osama studied under in Jeddah who was one of the first to support the Afghani mujihadeen. Osama followed Azzam to Afghanistan in 1979. Azzam had implored Bin Laden to use his money and family's connections to aid the cause, and by 1984, Azzam and Bin Laden had formed MAK to funnel money, arms and fighters from around the world to the Afghan war. Bin Laden's money purchased arms, plus plane tickets, accommodation, bribes to the Pakistani authorities for transit visas, and other services. But by this time (1984), it wasn't Bin Laden's money (i.e. that he had inherited), but the CIA's. It is estimated that the CIA gave Bin Laden around $6 billion in US taxpayer money for the purpose of defeating the Soviet Army in Afghanistan. Apparently, the name "Al Qaeda" ("the Base" in English) is the code name used by the CIA.

Mohammed Yousaf, who ran ISI's Afghani operations in the 1980s, said: "It was always galling to the Americans, and I can understand their point of view, that although they paid the piper they could not call the tune. The CIA supported the mujahideen by spending the taxpayers' money, billions of dollars of it over the years, on buying arms, ammunition, and equipment. It was their secret arms procurement branch that was kept busy. It was, however, a cardinal rule of Pakistan's policy that no Americans ever become involved with the distribution of funds or arms once they arrived in the country. No Americans ever trained or had direct contact with the mujahideen, and no American official ever went inside Afghanistan."

It would appear that Bin Laden wasn't always anti-American. What set him off was the Saudi government's decision to allow U.S. troops to build military bases and serve as de facto protectors of Islam's holiest sites, instead of the 15,000-strong army Bin Laden had raised for that purpose in the wake of Iraq's invasion of Kuwait. He was even more upset when the Gulf War ended up in a ceasefire leaving Saddam Hussein in power, and U.S. troops on Saudi Arabian soil. He was very outspoken about this, and the Saudi government censured him, and finally revoked his citizenship when he wouldn't shut up about it. He sought refuge in Sudan, whose then government agreed with his reasons for condemning the Saudi government, and eventually under international pressure they agreed to hand him over to the Saudi authorities, but only on the condition the Saudis pardon him. The Saudis refused on the basis he had been stripped of his citizenship. Under increasing pressure from Saudi Arabia, the United States and Egypt to expel bin Laden, the Sudan agreed to let him leave and he went to Afghanistan after an invitation from the Afghani Northern Alliance, who ironically, in the wake of 9/11, were deemed to be the U.S.'s allies. Actually, not so ironic when you remember that the mujihadeen which OBL belonged to fought against the Taliban in the Afghani Civil War.

Well if you read most of the actual experts on the subject. First you do know that Osama totally denied any part of the WTC bombings. Yes I know anyone could say they didn't do it.. but if that were the case and all the other bombings Al Qaeda has done they have taken full credit for, the WTC they totally denounced. Second the only time you have ever seen any footage or heard anything he has had to say is when Bush or the Republicans were about to be backed into a corner on their lies and suddenly these tapes appear. In which most experts all denounce as totally fake. Third, most of anyone that knows of Osama or knows Osama has stated the man died in early 2000-2001.

As to who the man really is. Look in the White House, see that spoiled rich daddies boy that got denied from his home state University but some how got into Yale. That is Osama, only difference is Osama made his money off American tax payers money 20 years ago and Bush is making it now. Osama is the son of the Bush families great friends as stated and that is just too much of a coincidence to go along with every thing else to say he is this master mind of terrorism. I think the man is dead and or living in some tropical paradise where he has for the last 10 years doing nothing and laughing at how stupid we are in this country to buy into this administrations oil war.

Osama Bin Laden is most probably dead. No one has heard from him in a very long time now. The Israelis, the Saudis and the French all say that he is dead. The U.S. government only says that they can not confirm or deny this. I think that some people like radio talk show jocks like having him as an enemy and are reluctant to acknowledge his death.

Osama Bin Ladin is probably dead. If not, he has killed enough infidel to have earned a place of honour in any Islamic nation state. His personal inadequacies that turned him into a killer of innocents will be forgotten, as they were for the First Terrorist, Mohammed!
