6x^2-5x-4
=(3x+a)(2x+b)
=6x^2+3bx+2ax+ab
=> We must solve the system of equation:
3b+2a=-5 (1)
and
ab=-4 => b=-4/a (2)
(2) injected in (1) gives:
-12/a+2a=-5
=> 2a^2+5a-12=0
delta=25+96=121=11^2
the 2 solutions for this equation are:
a=(-5-11)/4=-4 => b=1 or
a=(-5+11)/4=3/2 => b=-8/3
There are 2 possible factorisation:
(3x-4)(2x+1)
or
(3x+3/2)(2x-8/3)
At least I tell you the way to get there and I find all the solutions!
