That should read "...designed to keep you from BECOMING close."

Fetishes like golden showers, shoes, feet, leather, bondage, dirty talk, spanking....

If it stems from prolonged exposure to porn which is fantasy, then I think it can confuse one in what is reality and whats not. It is about establishing intimacy before having sex for me, if the other person had a fetish it would be ok to explore but if the fetish was the only way we were able to have sex, then hell no.

I would say no. If you and your partner experience these together it takes a large amount of trust. Trust I think would bring two people closer and strengthen a relationship.

I know for a fact that I will not be tied up and have candlewax dropped on me unless I know the person well (or are a professional LOL)

If the fetish does come to the point of where gratification is only met if there fetish is used/performed that may have a negative side when it comes to pleasing the partner.

I do agree sometimes fetishes are born out of human subconscious. Most times they are born of a instance in our life, linked to our subconscious by smell (our most memory making sense), taste or touch. We found the instance pleasurable or comfortable at least. Yet if the intimate person in your life finds the fetish repulsive, whilst you find a need to enjoy it once in awhile, problems arise. That's when closeness is compromised. Many fetishes are not so repulsive that a loving partner wouldn't help out with it occasionally, I would hope.

hmmmm....Well, I think it would depend on the relationship and the fetish. If one person does not have a fetish, but the other person does that can cause problems in the relationship. Some people that don't have fetishes don't understand people that do.

No, I think they work the other way, they allow you a type of escape from all the rules. People use it to let themselves go, because the fetish sort of allows them to be someone else, someone they feel they cannot be all the time.

So I think it helps them get past the prudishness, it's a crutch in a way.

I don't think so. It is all about eroticism. I have the foot fetish, and my ex loved it.

i might continually shop my friends nearer than my enemies, yet as quickly as I had any enemies, I particular as hell might shop them close besides, in basic terms to be arranged for what they may well be as much as.
