I think Glenn has made a wise and intelligent decision. Actually we, cricket fans, are a little selfish and want to see our favorite players playing forever while in reality it is not possible. Players are human beings too and they need to live their own life too. A players better understands when its time to call it a day and enjoy some other aspects of life. Whereas in sub-continent , I am sorry to say, the players as well as public is emotional and they want their beloved players to play until they are really worn out and being asked to quit. I hope in Sachin's case it will not happen and he will show some wisdom and character to realize the need of time and leave the cricket arena in a graceful and honorable manner. He had done his part for Indian cricket and someone has to take place one day so why not now so that you can prepare a better team of young blood for next world cup , if you are interested in winning the world cup.

Mc Grath has only retired from ODI and not test cricket. I strongly feel that he has retired at the most appropriate time when he achieved the feat of most wickets in the history or world cup and his team has won the world for the third consecutive time. If he continues to play ODI, perhaps he may not get a most opportune time like this to retire.

To do justice to your question, the situation in the two countries is vastly different. It is an open secret that sports personalities in Australia are not treated as demi-gods. For the same reason, they don't make much money outside of cricket. Whereas the situation in India is different. For any small achievement in sport, be it cricket or any other sport, the Indian media goes head over heels in highlighting the event. It is obvious. For example suppose Leander Paes is taking part in Tennis in Olympics, from the reaction of the media you can come to the conclusion whether he is still in the tournament or out of it. In the case of Sachin, no doubt he has 2-3 years of cricket left in him. But he should ask the question himself whether he is fit to carry on what with news of new injuries being reported in the media every other day now. Moreover, as long as he is able to make money, he may not think of retirement. McGrath was more magnanimous in this respect and chose to quit the scene when he did his best to help the Aussies clinch their hattrick of victories in WC. He will be respected, remembered for quitting the area honourably and while at his peak. Sadly Sachin doesn't do it and that is why we are debating on this question.

There was no pressure for him to retire it was his decision. He could have easily went on and on the way he has bowled but that is the difference between Australians and others.
Tendulkar will remain a passenger in this circket team for a long Time,Why will sachin be upset ?he is the richest cricketer and making money far more than any player in this game.

a million) No. it somewhat is a lesson [for] different oldies [interior the edge] he's relatively previous by cricketer criteria. Dravid, Tendulkar and Laxman stands out as the only reponsile for seeing India dig themselves in to a 10 365 days era of being hopeless in try cricket back. respectable gamers who have been youthful while Tendulkar and Dravid in specific ought to have retired some years back, are actually center elderly gamers who have not been waiting to enhance on the skills they reveal at international point on pitches international. fairly they have been enjoying regionally on the flat tracks in India which while they excursion to any non sub continent u . s . a . they'll war.

well i think this is the right 4 mcgrath to retire since he is not bowling as well as he did before. he's being hit for a plethora of runs and is getting wickets by bowling loose deliveries. it is better for him to retire gracefully rather than retiring after he is dropped. as for tendulkar has a lot of cricket and could make it to the next world cup.

Yes i think it is a good decision ! In my opinion its better to get retired at a specific time when you are still "in" and you feel that you can't keep for very long...then getting retirement with some glory is an appropraite decision ! Just like Wasim Akram did...he was still able to play but went off at that time ! as for Sachin, so i think it would be better for him too...becuase he is taking very long to get recover and this is not a good sign.. though i would like to watch both of them playing....but every player has to end up his career one day !this would give both Aussies and India to get a better replacment for both of them .....for "next" world cup !!

Yes Glen McGrath has retired at the perfect time. He was aging and this seems to be the right time for him to hang up boots. Unlike the Indian players who slogg on till they are literally kicked out of the team, Aussie have a habit of retiring at the peak of their career.
