someone told me to make sure the number coming in and going out of the park are the same, BUT, I don't see how it can be....teenagers will jump over them on the way out, and parents will carry exausted children out.....so why even have to push through those things?

I think it's more for people going in. Say you sold 1,000 tickets on a particular day, but the turnstile counted 1,200 people, the park would know people are finding some way around the system. It helps them to tighten up on security.

They need the numbers for a few reasons. First of all if it's a busy day they need the numbers to determine how long the wait is. Also, they need them just to keep track of how well each ride does.

Turnstiles are for counting, except in NYC subways where they show commuters how one-way pedestrian traffic works.

It gets a rough count of who goes in and who comes out, but also slows things down so there is not such a crush at the entrance/exit.

I think it counts the number of people so they know everyone has gone out of the park. (At the end of the day).
