Chances are it isn't throat cancer. I had the same crud 2 weeks ago! Who knows maybe you got the same thing millions others have gotten since last month. You are probably just ill with a bug! Take your vitamins, esp C and B vitamins.
Take care!

Hon, you're not not a likely candidate for throat cancer at your age so don't worry about that! Highly unlikely. You probably have a cold which can bring on a swollen gland or tonsil. This will resolve shortly if you gargle with warm salt water. PLEASE DON'T mix an aspirin in it as the above poster has suggested. Aspirin is caustic to sensitive gum and throat tissue and should never be gargled with. It would not stop the pain when used that way anyway. But the warm salt water rinses will be effective, just use 1/2 tsp salt to 1/2 a cup of warm water. The salt dries tissues and removes inflammation. Your throat will feel better in one or two days if you rinse. I'd rinse three or four times daily if you can. And in between you can suck on a topical anesthetic lozenge such as chloroseptic. Or you can use the spray form but the lozenge will last longer. It will numb the area, easing discomfort. This will run its course and you'll feel better pretty soon so you just hang in there! Good luck.

A sore throat isn't likely a sign of "Throat Cancer." Just take some cough drops and some medicine and you will be fine.

The chances of it being throat cancer are very slim. It is likely a swollen lymph gland on the one side of your neck causing inflammation to the throat. If you go to the doctor they would prescribe an antibiotic to treat it.

Do not worry about things that aren't likely to happen. Mix an aspirin with warm, lightly salted water and gargle as often as you want to. Do not let your throat get dry. Use cough drops or hard candy often. Alternate remedy: Gargle with Maalox or Mylanta, then swallow it. (about 4 times daily)
