My guess is that for alot of people it is something that could have been prevented, if the person who suicided could have gotten help for thier problems, then society might view that as tragic that they gave up that way. Perhaps also it confronts society with a picture of themselves they don't want to look at, in wondering what thier part in it was. I am assuming you are talking about suicide of the "Goodbye cruel world" variety, as opposed to someone under drastic terminal medical circumstances or something like that....

In many cultures life is considered a divine gift from a God or God's.
To take this away is to disrespect the deity.

life is a gift

we are only alive for a short period of time. throwing our life away is a complete waste
