To manage the slightest detail; like a control freak!

When you are in charge but you are fussing over the smallest details. Micro means small (think microscope)

Usually it isn't a good policy. A good manager gives people room to work. Gives the direction and lets/trusts people can decide for themselves how to get things done.

This term is usually applied to the boss in the workplace. The boss delegates a responsibility, then hovers over the employee's shoulder, making sure it's done to the letter. While there is his way, the employee's way may be just as good, but the boss doesn't want to let go of whatever the task is, and allow the employee to fulfill the responsibility.

To work out every single detail. Usually for a business. It can be something as small as the number of buttons on your employees uniforms, the number of napkins in a dispenser before it has to get refilled, or the number of pickles allowed on a sandwich. Too many and you're wasting stuff... Too few and your customers are pissed.
