Imran Khan is seen as one of the finest all-rounders the game has ever produced, along with Garfield Sobers, Ian Botham, Kapil Dev, and Richard Hadlee. He achieved the "All-rounder's triple" (3000 runs and 300 wickets) in 75 tests, the second fewest behind Botham's 72.
In April 2007, Imran was voted as the greatest all-rounder in a readers poll by Cricinfo. He claiming 37% of the votes, beating Sir Garfield Sobers who was second with 14% out of the 20 all-rounders Cricinfo had selected. Incidentally Cricinfo's panel chose Sobers as the greatest all-rounder independent of the poll.
He was one of the fastest bowlers of the world during the late 1970s and early 1980s, and in the later half of his career, one of the best batsmen in the Pakistan team. (He has the second highest average of all time for a test batsman batting at number 6.
Perhaps more significantly, as a captain, he transformed the Pakistan team, previously known for its exceptional talent but lack of coherence into a well-moulded unit. Imran played his last test match for Pakistan in January 1992 vs Sri Lanka at Faisalabad and last ODI being the World Cup final vs England at Melbourne in March 1992 resulting in the world cup glory and triumph for his country.
This famous Pashtun is not only known for his performances on the field, but off the field as well. Labelled by some as an international playboy, Khan was once voted as the "Sexiest Man of The Year" by Australia Magazine Oz.
By the way, to me it seems that Wasim Akram has performed better after his retirement by way of appearing as commentator. During his days on the field, he was found to be injury prone. As a person Wasim Akram is very modest.

I think it will be unfair to compare these two Pakistan greats with each other. If Wasim was a lethal late reverse swing bowler then you must know who taught him the "art" ? Definitely it was great Imran Khan . An answerer above said that Wasim has 500 + wickets then I would say if Imran was not unfit for almost 3 years then he would have been the first to take 500 wickets in test cricket. Secondly as a captain Wasim can never match Imran because Imran's God gifted personality and his ability to read the opponents weaknesses never reflected in Wasim. Wasim on his day could devastate any batting line up in the world and on his day could destroy any bowling attack in the world.

I adore Imran khan as great human...but unfortuantely i couldn't see him playing..(i watched him playing in one match only and that is 1992 world cup final and without understanding the game)......there is no doubt in his being the greatest player , a great captian and his contribution for Pakistan cricket is countless and i know he taught all that to Wasim Akram and wasim always followed his footsteps but I m more fan of Wasim in cricket .....infact he is my all time favourite player !! He was a strong player...he was mentally very much strong and this is the quality that our present team is lacking ! Btw i can't compare both of them !they both are awesome!

Good question. Wasim. I have supported Lancashire cricket club for ages and the stuff I heard about his captaincy is legend. On of the first to truly master late reverse swing, and a murderous batsmen in the right mood. Pure genius.

you have mentioned the two legendry players of the pakistan cricket team but one among them is better than the other
Wasim is better than Imran because he has also done captaincy for Pakistan and is the first man to take 500+ wickets in the international cricket also he had hit 12sixes in a test match innings against Zimbabwe which is the world cricket
