You are correct up to a certain point. Maslow's ‘Hierarchy of Needs’ is one possible theory to answer your question. His theory is depicted as a pyramid consisting of five levels. The basic concept is that the lower levels need to be satisfied before an individual can move up a level. Once an individual has moved past a level, those needs will no longer be prioritized. In other words...if you’re starving getting the corner office will not be of concern. Contrarily, if you’re president of a company, you wouldn’t worry about getting your next meal.

5. SELF ACTUALIZATION: morality, creativity, celebrate life
4. ESTEEM: confidence, achievements, reputation
3. LOVE/BELONGING: family, friendship, intimacy
2. SAFETY: personal security, secure job
1. PHYSIOLOGICAL: air, food, water, sleep

So to answer your question...money helps satisfy the lower needs. Money can pay for food, home alarm system, family vacations and college education. However, once you get to level five...money is worthless. Money can’t buy you creativity or a great appreciation for nature.

Money can buy alot of creature comforts, and make it easier to make choices in your life, but it can't buy you happiness, happiness is an attitude toward your life, and how you deal with it, and your relationships. That has to come from inside you, there are plenty of unhappy rich people out there. If "happiness" to you means having alot of material posessions, you will be sorely disappointed when you have attained them, if you find yourself looking around at all your goodies, but you've alienated everyone in your life to get them.... However, it is easier to enjoy your loved ones when you have the means to spend the time on them, instead of working 12 hours a day.
It's still an attitude that has to start from within, though.

People are happy because they {their mind and all} has decided that they are happy, regardless of money.

Money may be pleasing but it will never MAKE someone happy...because people can not be made to be happy, but instead decide for themselves that they are happy with whatever situation there is.

Money can buy things...but happiness is not a thing, it is an emotion.

That thing you call "Happiness" that you can buy with money, isn't really happiness. Its security. You can buy all the security you want, but you won't be happy until you realize that you don't really need it. Its an illusion(security, that is). You're gonna die someday, no matter what you do, and you can't take all that crap you bought with you. You can take Happiness with you though....

Why don't you tell us why you think that money can buy happiness as well? In any event, it can't. You can achieve happiness only if you try.

Money can make you happy to some extend but it's not the only and prime factor. A little luxury sometimes may make you have and comfort but it can't buy real love, real freindship and many times, true peace of mind.

Money may not buy happiness, but it sure makes the problems easier to deal with.

money buys things that can BRING happiness. money doesn't literally buy happiness, but it can bring: a good education, traveling opportunities, good clothes, delicious food, in general a high quality of life. isn't that what everyone wants? the concept of wealth is a powerful one.

, well answer me this question. would you rather be the heavyweight champion of the world , or be rich?
I think any red blooded male would choose heavyweight champ.

money only buys the illusion of happiness, yeah you can have a pretty girl friend , but every time you try to satisfy her you will remember that she only wants you for your money ,and your friends deep down , you will know looking into their eyes that they are just there waiting for their share of your money.
