Definetely not, that is the first attempt that EU have to avoid. If Turkey joins EU then EU will be gradually disbanded. In theory, the majority of Turkey are Asian, should the law enable that to happen, the entire middle east and then eventually the entire Asia be given access to enter EU. In addition to that, Turkey is located in Asia not Europe. As the number of member of states is increasing, this could lead to an enormous increase in globalization.

Well they are in Europe. Fact. If they meet the measures for EU entry then they will become another star of the great flag of Europe.
Personally, I would rather have Turkey aligned to Europe than the Middle East... considering they are a gateway to Europe.
Quite honestly the Western world should be holding up Turkey as a shining example of a predominantly Muslim country that doesn't oppress its people and has formed a peaceful democracy.
And as for that twit that commented on Cyprus.... again, a shining example of a backwards hick with no grasp on history.

No change of mind. Still now, they can not join the EU because of immigration issues, cultural difference, increased risk of Europe islamization + uncontroled terrorists flow through turkey's borders.
I have nothing against turkish people & Turkey but joining the EU should not be even scheduled.

Bush and the US want them in Europe.
I guess that's because the US see Europe and a future economic threat.
Why not let Turkey join the North American Free Trade Area (NAFTA) and give the 70 million Turks free access to the US ie no passport require which is what the US wants Europe to give the Turks. The Turks wouldn't need Europe then.

I haven't changed my mind, i still don't think they should enter the EU, they still have some human right issue's to address, plus they are not really in Europe and they are responsible for those terrible kebab's which have made me ill after 12 pints of larger, a few chasers and a few Irish coffee's !! so no don't let them in.

they can come here and marry all the white women if they like, then when we are a muslim state the chavs will be forced to get rid of their pink 'estate' tops and have to cover up or be beaten for showing their ankles. That's whats happening in Turkey. The religious police will be busy and corporal punishment on the streets. Rather have Turkey than the middle east.

Turkey is having a fight to remain secular at the moment, the last thing they need is an Islamist state, this would increase problems,Turkey cannot enter the EU until it has resolved and improved a few things;it's human rights record for a start.
