there is very little logic used in numbering the houses and buildings and routing the roads.. the roads just curle to the right and left for no aparent reason!!

I think it all started when Washington D.C.was planned. The roads are laid out like the spokes of a wheel. Then everything got out of hand.

..I know most cities in Western US are laid out per Public Land System...roads laid out in cardinal directions...then other roads is hilly or mountainous terrain laid out to maximize usable land
