People that call others names have a problem. They believe that by pointing out what they feel is something less in others, it makes them look better. All it really does is point out how small they truely are. Some people don't have the experience and so act in mean ways. They haven't been around long enough to understand the consequences of their actions and don't even have basic good manners. And then there are those that never grow up and never even learn basic manners. So, don't worry about them. I'm worried about you. If you are overweight, so what? Everyone has good points and then the other points--even the skinny girls. Develop your assets. Be all you can be. Be proud of yourself exactly as you are. Don't want to be someone else but open yourself up and go find people that appreciate you for you. You will find yourself in a big crowd of people that are not happy with something about themselves and glad to have you as a friend. You are a sensitive caring person and there are plenty of people that will appreciate that. You have learned what it feels like to have others mistreat you and you are a better person because you now know better. The rich are another story. $ gives you power and position. Some handle it well and some will try to take advantage. Solution: If you don't want to be treated badly, go get the very best education you can get and get the very best grades you can get. Make a good plan and go as far as you can go. It is the great equalizer.

It is a sad state of affairs that we find ourselves in in today's society sometimes. I am an elementary school teacher and I see already these superiority complexes forming in Grade 1! It is incredible! They have not experienced enough to develop such ideas on their own, so I have to think it is instilled by family somehow...
In any case, there is unfortunately no clear-cut answer to your question. We know it's wrong, we know there is no justification for it , we know how damaging it can be (and I'm sure that deep down, the perpetrators know this as well), but that is the diversity of human nature/nurture. Take comfort in the fact though, that not everybody subscribes to these ideas (such as the posters here) or engages in such harmful, destructive behaviour. There are plenty of good people from both sides of the fence in this world!
For those who insist on degrading others though, it is likely impossible to change them...I have to agree with lovely green eyes...you can only feel sorry for them.

Unfortunately, you can expand your question to so many other things. Beautiful people calling the others "ugly", smart (or so they think) people calling others "stupid" and so on.
These are obvioulsy selfish people with no sensitivity who think they are better just because they look fine, have a nice house and living is easy for them.
I bring it all down to arrogance and ignorance (I am not talking about education!).
Just feel sorry for them.

Skinny people think they are better human beings. In fact, they ain't got notthing except their looks.
Same for the rich people, their ain't got nothing except money. These people are worthless if they have no money.

they get self gratification when they make others feel ugly, its fear of losing that "beauty" that they try to push you down as low as thay can...the lower you get, the higher they are,,,but actually they didnt move
same as the rich people
your time will come...and it'll be sweet, and when that time comes, dont do what they did to you..otherwise your not much different
expect that moment!
