Im not really sure if this is my period. When i found out there was blood, it was a very small amount. So i consulted my mother and she said it would become more later. But the thing is, it didnt(it continued to be that small amount for 4 days,. along with something white...?). Then the next day it was there, but only a little bit. Is this normal? My sister says its because im so thin and i dont eat well. But im just worried.

not everyones period is the same. Some release more blood than others and it starts off either smaller or the same for a couple of days, then gets smaller as its over, mine is a week or less, but u really need to record when it started and ended and if it comes around the same time next month b/c you'll need the info when u go to ur doctors for any reason. it might not be the same each time because of stress. the white stuff comes because it cleans out ur system for the rest of the blood but itll go away in awhile.u are very normal, the biggest help is use tampons(only where 6-8 hrs) when ur active at all running,jumping,sports....use pads with wings(there the best) if ur at school, just sitting, especially sleeping

body weight can affect period, but i dotn know if i can for a first one.
but this definitely sounds like your first. in the beginning they might last different amount of days and can be irregular, so this is probably just one of those cases. if you're worried something might be wrong then go to a doctor, that will put your mind at ease.

not everyone has a heavy period...the 'textbooks' say a woman only loses about three table spoons a day, though mine are certainly not that light, so unless there is a bad smell--a sick infection kind of smell, you are just fine. keep yourself a calendar to keep track of the dates. you may not be on a regular cycle at first, or ever, but average cycles are about 28-30 days.

A period does not have to be heavy.. especially the first ones are kind of erratic the white substance I am not sure about maybe you should see your MD... It does sound like your first period though Congratulations and welcome to womanhood!!!:)

your mother means as you get more periods as the months go by it might get to be heavier, but if you are very thin, yes it will be light.
