With my second, I thought I was in labor: lower back pains; I had diarhea, and contractions starting at 8:00 p.m., didn't sleep much, by 3:00 a..m. I was having contractions 7 minutes apart, called the Dr and asked if I could stay home, she said yes. At 5:00 a.m. contractions were 5 minutes apart. At 6:00 I threw up; took a shower. Fell asleep about 6:30, woke up at 7:30 and contractions were completely gone.

It's called Early or Practice labor - your body is ramping up. It was six more weeks before my son was born, and that was my second!!!

You don't need to go to the hospital any time soon. Take a shower, or a bath. Take a walk, etc. If you have concerns, call your Dr/Midwife, but I'd suggest waiting until after 6:00 a.m. (they need their sleep too!)

Try some relaxing scents: lavender, pepermint, I liked Satsuma Orange. Try to eat a snack, and make sure you are well hydrated!!!

hows that for lots of advice :-) Good luck, and congratulations!!

The baby is probably engaging which means it is pushing it's head down in to your pelvic bones. You will feel a lot of pressure and a sort of grinding feeling. It is almost like pushing a cork back on a bottle of wine. A tight squeeze.
Have you noticed if the baby has dropped? (lower in your belly)

Please check with your doctor.

Call your doctor's office and ask to speak to a nurse who will tell you if you need to be evaluated. It probably isn't labor, but the headaches make me suspicious of pregnancy induced hypertension (high blood pressure) which can be a very serious complication in pregnancy.

I am also 31 weeks along and the dr just told me that it was the baby moving down and getting ready to be born. It can be really painfull, I find that sleeping with a pillow between my knees helps, I actually went and bought a body pillow so it is big enough to put it between my knees and under my belly for support at night. and keep your feet up as much as you can durring the day.

labor is pains that comes at regular intervals, usually starts every half an hour or so and gets closer together over time.
