yep- and just like an ankle, there is not much you can do for it. you can wrap it in an ace bandage for support, and use bengay, or theragesic cream, but really you gotta lie around and give it about 4-5 days to come back around. good luck!

Yes. You have 4 major ligaments in your knee. Medial and Lateral collateral ligaments keep you knee stable from side to side. Anterior cruciate and Posterior cruciate ligaments keep your knee stable forward and backwards. You and sprain any of those ligaments. You can also rupture them. If you sprain or rupture them you will have a lot of swelling possibly some discoloration and a feeling of instability when you walk or try to run. You can also strain or rupture the tendons the cross the knee.
Ligaments attach bone to bone and hold a joint stable
tendons attach muscle to bone and move joints.

Yes it's so possible! My daughter cheers as well. She sprained her knee and the Dr. said stay off it, take Motrin, ice it and keep it elevated. (put pillows under in until leg is slightly higher than heart.) Good Luck!!

you can sprain any joint in your body. The knee is a very vulnerable one, because it supports your weight all day long, very easy to injure.

why wouldn't it be? you can sprain your ankle, your back, and your wrist, and whiplash is like a sprained neck...a sprain is an injury of the muscles in a body location

i don't know if "sprain" is the correct word
but i have hyperextenended my knees
wrapping them, icing them and gently excersizing them
is about all you can do to take care of them
