I found the following sentences in the movie scripts of "Charade" . What does "in the f.g." means?

One of the latter is REGINA LAMPERT, a lovely young girl. She is, besides taking in the sun, involved in her favorite activity -- eating.

Then -- a dark, ominous shape intrudes in the f.g. FOCUS CHANGES to bring into sharp relief a revolver -- shining, black and ugly in the sunlight.

In this context, f.g. is probably "foreground".

I agree with the person above me. Especially since I own that dvd and the gun is definitely in the foreground. =) I love all Cary Grant movies. Don't know if you ever saw "The Trouble With Charlie" starring Mark Wahlberg & Thandie Newton, but it was a terrible remake.
