I had moved from Alaska to Beaumont, TX and had no problem with the heat. As it goes for cost of living...When you make up for the $.08 on the Dollar tax, it really didn't make much difference. Crime...It happens, you can't get away from it. Jobs...All on what you want to do. And good family living, well it's Texas. I didn't have a problem living there. Don't move to any big cities if you move to CA.

Since I am a true Texan I can tell you it's a great place to live. Fort Worth, Arlington, and Duncanville are great place to start looking to settle. Great jobs that pay really well, there are cheap towns to live in, and the people are friendly. The crime is not too bad, but lets face it, crime is everywhere. I formally lived in California for 6 years and the cost of living is terrible there, great scenery, but the jobs and pay are not to much to support the cost of living. You almost have to have 2 jobs just to make it there. I lived in Texas for almost 8 years and I love it. You have to get use to the people here, they are totallly different and the accent as well. Hope this helps.....

Very hot summers but the winters are temperate and for the most part it is a good state with employment opportunity and best highways in the country so you can travel to a variety of cities with ease. Texas has crime like every other state so metro areas like Houston will see some high crime rates, if you choose to live in suburbia it is not so bad.

Have Been In Texas, and It is A beautiful State. People are very friendly and Jobs are plentiful . It surely is a Big state!, But also , has some beautiful weather most of the time. I lived in Alameda, Calif. for seven years. >>Traffic and Population got so Heavy , It was difficult to tolerate. Florida is my choice. Been Here Since I980. This State has been good to me. Most Floridians are very nice., and kicked back.
