This is random... but curious! Why is it that women's panties sometimes have double layer of cotton in the crotch area? Sometimes they're left open or stiched closed. Is it incase of monthly accidents? Am I supposed to put anything in there?? Maybe a secret pocket? lol anyone know WHY or WHAT FOR???

its because women naturally have discharge that keeps the vagina clean and functioning normally. this extra layer helps keep it from soaking thru to your pants. its almost cute to see that everyone but one person who's answered hasn't even hit puberty yet.

The extra layer of cotton adds a bit of 'breathability' down below. The lack of the top stitching there helps give a smoother look to the front of the panties. As for the little pocket, I suppose one could hide treats for your sweetie to find. Oh wait! If they got that far already, they probably found the treat they were after.

women get wet or start their period at unexpected times, and the extra layer helps it not soak thru to your pants.. it depends on the designer on whether they wanna stich it all the way around, but i suppose you could keep stuff in there, but if you move or run or open your legs and it causes your underwear to shift it could fall out, and i dont think it would be too fun to jump then suddenly have money or a tampon or condom fall out of your pants!!

Xtra protection.. Discharge.. Period...Moistness...Extra pocket.. Are just a few reasons.. I think since its the fabric thats right on the goods, usually its a nicer, softer material. Instead of having some itchy material riding up..

I never thought of that. Maybe for a clean tampon so no one sees it or something. Maybe cause its more sensitive ther. Hahahha Good question

yes, it's for moisture. It's cotton because it breathes better (i.e. dries faster) and can clean better (i.e. scrubbing, etc, where the fancy/lace would fall apart).

It's for hygiene purposes, and also so you can put 'protection' there and it won't fall off.

I think it's just a pee absorber.
