We don't have health insurance and it's not an available option, so he can't try any of the anit-depressants. I've heard that yoga is good, plus flaxseed oil, I think...

What sorts of remedies can I get, say, at Trader Joe's (health food store local) that will help him deal with the fatigue and the pain? Also, any diets changes or adjustments to be made, and exercise programs to put him on? Multi-vitamins? Any experienced advice would be welcome.

Would switching him to my vegetarian diet help him at all? I know he gets way too much protien and too much soda...

You need to get rid of all of your toxic cleaners and laundry products. Most are registered pesticides. Replace them with all natural cleaners and then take the old products to your nearest toxic waste recycling place. Once you get the non toxic cleaners you need to clean every room in your house and shampoo all the carpets and furniture with the new products. Do all the laundery in the new products. Do this while he is out of the house. Use as much fresh produce as you can in his diet and lots of fresh fruits. Vegetarian diet will not help. Be sure he does not drink or eat product with Aspartame in it ie: diet sodas. Be sure he is using a good mulitvitamin and antioxidant supplement that is well absorbed by the body. A good glucosamine supplement may help too.

Hi PaganPrettie.
Here are a few of the ways your husband are treating fibromyalgia symptoms naturally.

One of the most effective natural treatments of r fibromyalgia is actually exercise. There have been a number of studies done that show the for patience with fibromyalgia, exercise is one of the best natural treatments. Exercise does a couple of things. First of all, it helps the body produce serotonin and adrenalin which are natural pain inhibitors. Secondly, exercise goes a long way in helping sleep patterns at night. Sleep disorders plague many who have fibromyalgia, so anything that can aid in helping sufferers to attain deeper sleep is a big help.

There are a also a number of herbs and alternative medicines treating fibromyalgia symptoms naturally. One such alternative is to adjust the diet. It is suggested that eating more cold water fish or taking fish oil capsules can be effective in treating the symptoms of fibromyalgia.

Another treatment involves using a combination of CoQ10 and Ginko. These two combined have been found to be effective by many and are great natural options for treatment. A study showed that in anecdotal interviews, patience described a better quality of life when taking the combination. This is good news for those who are treating fibromyalgia symptoms naturally, especially with the popularity of Ginko in health food stores and vitamin shops alike.

Some use Siberian ginseng as a way to help with the fatigue brought on by fibromyalgia. Since it is a naturally energizing herb, it helps to give sufferers that boost they need when dealing with fibromyalgia. Work your dosage up over the course of two or three weeks, and remember to take a break from the Siberian Ginseng at least once every 6 weeks.

You can also talk to your doctor about the possibility of a vitamin D deficiency, which has been known to cause fibromyalgia. A supplement or change in diet may help the problem and thus alleviate your fibromyalgia over time.

Hi...this is a recommendation from first hand experiences with the same but only as a starting point.
There is a book called the "Yeast Connection," check at your local library. It discusses how household chemicals, perfumes etc. will cause people to be chronically tired. There is a proliferation of "Bad yeast--Candida" that may be the culprit for the tiredness. It is a difficult diet where you cannot use pickles, may, mustard, ketchup, wheat products just basically eat fruits and veggies and meat.
I did this and also stopped using -- White refined sugar as I found the Fibromyalgia was flarring up more often and have had marked improvements. Also, exercise, walking and low impact movement is best, even though it might hurt a bit but you have to push yourself forward. The inactivity makes things worse. Work up to an exercise level. Stretches will help as a starter.
Here is a link to someone living with it and a link to the diet. If you do a web search with -- the yeast connection it will bring you to some information that may be of use and for free.

Believe it or not, protein is very important to a healthy diet. The thing that causes problems with our health is sugar. Processed flour, sugar, rice etc causes many health problems including diabetes, asthma and polycystic ovarian syndrome. I eat lots of vegetables and I vary them on a daily basis and add protein to every meal. My joint pain vanished 4 years ago after beginning a low carb diet. Migraines are but a memory. One thing that will probably help out immensely is coconut oil. This should be added to the diet as a food source. It is more virilent than the coconut oil supplements. It contains anti-viral and anti bacterial properties. It also fights fungus.

Hi, I hope I can give you some useful advice. I use colour therapy to bring relief from pain. Indigo or dark blue is a powerful pain reliever. If you have some silk or cotton in this colour, drape it over your husband and he should get some pain relief. Also, to increase his energy levels, I suggest eating red fruits and vegetables such as strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes, etc. This will increase his physical strength. To help lift him out of depression, use orange in his clothing, food, environment etc. as orange is a great colour for expressing joy and happiness. I hope this helps.

300mg/day 5-HTP, 660mg/day Aleave and 6000mg/day fish oil is what I take for my sciatica. I like to eat hot peppers on occasion to dump endorphins into my system.
