For just one holiday weekend, that's all it would take to send a direct message to the oil companies and the gov't that we're sick and tired of being taken advantage of. The oil companies gross BILLION$ a year, and it's all thanks to us. Is it worth it to you, can you handle staying home with your family for ONE holiday weekend your whole life long? I say this Memorial Day we let them twist in the wind instead giving them the satisfaction of collecting their projected profits...it's up to you America, take a stand or just let the crime carry on?

Yes Chris, I agree very much so with what you wrote, you have no idea... I think it would at least raise some eyebrows and could be a good start to getting the US united and ready for the next steps you mentioned.

I understand what you are saying but this won't hurt them or send a message. We have done this too ourselves through "progress" and "greed". Families moving thousands of miles apart for "better" jobs. Everyone thinking they need their own home and their own stuff. And I can name more things we do in the name of "progress" that have only progressed us further into our own demise. Everything have moved at such a fast pace that we have lost touch with reality. Our kids are suffering, our pocket books are suffering, our mental stability is suffering and all in the name of "progress".
I sometimes envy the Amish.
We need to slow down and quit thinking of only ourselves for a change then maybe we can begin to progress. Get to know your neighbors. Make plans for a few of you to carpool together to the grocery store once a week. Plan ahead so you don't have to take several trips to the store. Families should start sticking together instead of feeling the need to move out. Work together and we will have more of what we need and what we want with more money still in our pockets.
Anyway... Not buying gas one day or not traveling on one weekend isn't going to affect anything.
How we live our life on an every day basis will.

that is a stable concept. Having a cookout on Memorial weekend is so exciting. Play a sprint croquet or baseball, even capture with somebody. or purely take a seat around and hear the birds. i think of that is termed relaxing.

I should be hanging around the house, or working in the yard, or sitting on the front porch, drinking a beer. good luck.
