Psychotic definitely.
Is the small amount of research they gather worth being in a truck when it is lifted off of the roadway and spun around like a top?
I compare storm chasers to the people that climb up on a high mountain in the middle of a blizzard and get stuck.
Whats the point?

I'm not sure where you are from however, I know in Iowa we have a few classes we can attend. This will not make you an expert but it does help a bit. I am an amature storm chaser, best bet is to go out and learn by living cause no one can tell you what a storm in going to do anyways.

I think a little of both. I know to me, it would be psychotic because I think it is stupid to do, but I also think anyone who can do it has got to really be BRAVE! I know I could never do it, even if I was offered lots a big bucks! :o)

There isn't anything else that is extreme in Tornado Alley. You have to drive at least twelve hours for major rock climbing etc. Therefore I guess I have to wimp out and say both.
