f(x)=x^3-3x^2-16x-12
f(6)=216-108-96-12
=216-216=0

f(x)=x^3-3x^2-16x-12
=(x-6)(x^2+3x+2)
=(x-6)(x+1)(x+2)

use synthetic division
we know one zero, so we can create the factor (x-6)
x^3 - 3x^2-16-12 divide by x-6 =
x^2+3x+2
which factors to (x+2)(x+3)

x^3-3x^2-16x-12 = (x-6)(x+2)(x+3)

=)
