Talk to your title insurance company. They should be able to help you determine the exact parameters of your property. The deed (available through your city/county if you don't have a copy) will also state the exact lot lines, although you may need a surveyor to help you understand exactly where the lot line falls.

If a fence has been on your property for a long time, you may need a real estate lawyer to help you assert your rights to remove the fence.

It is purely a courtesy to one's neighbors that the posts appear on the owner's side of a fence. The ownership of a fence is dependent upon the property on which the fence sits. Common law (and every law I've been able to research) holds that if the fence is on your property, you own it. If your neighbor built it (in error, I might add) on your property, that's awfully nice of him. But it's your fence.

Your mileage may vary, but I don't think so.

You would more than likely need to contact a "Surveyor" to look at the City Boundaries on the Property Deed and then Post or Mark them with Stakes.

You should have a map of the property. The owner of the fence itself is whoever lives on the side that the posts are one.

Go to your local "title office"....they have the blueprints of every property in your area! They can help you.

surveyor took readings on your property's location - look for those papers - perhaps your local government has those records or can be of some assistance

Blueprints are for buildings.
Surveys are for land. Yours is on file at the county tax assessor office.
