There will always be some people living in poverty. Some because they can't cut it in society, others because of medical problems, some will pull out of it and others won't. Some will work 3 jobs to survive while their children fend for themselves.

There is always more poverty in the U.S. when a republican is in power as the statistics will show. They pander to the wealthy and don't create as many opportunities for affordable education, low income housing, etc.

I prefer the democrats because they provide opportunities for people to better their lives. An example would be that they are working to lower the interest rates on student loans. That is not welfare that is just fair. If only the wealthy can continue their education, what kind of country is this going to be?

Want to end poverty? START HIRING PEOPLE MORE OFTEN!! Those that do not seem to be good at interviews might be better at the position you're hiring for than you think. Many employers take interviews way too seriously and fail to get the "right man (or woman) for the job." Most employers today don't know anything about how to hire someone. They're all brainless robots.

If every person gave 10% of what they earn to real charities.
If every Church, Temple or Mosque gave 10% to real charities.
Tithing is present in Christianity, Judaism and Islam yet there is nothing.

Real charities are groups like Salvation Army or Habitat for Humanity not like Pat Robertson who uses it to buy Oil stocks.

Don't depend on Government to cure poverty. They can't even get you a flu shot.

By ending welfare for EVERYONE except those who are truly disabled physically or mentally. Our economy would improve ten-fold if everyone who is able would find a job and contribute to society instead of draining it, there would be so many positive changes, not only economically, but crime would go down, people would take more pride in themselves, be better citizens, learn to use money wisely, etc. Liberals have made it so that many people will never be anything but poor. They are the ultimate enablers.

I mean I think the REAL KEY is education... and through education, getting people to realize the value of education...

that is VERY OFTEN a common factor with those in poverty... they often don't realize the value of education...

also I think programs to help people in poverty now would help...

some Scandinavian countries have very low poverty rates, and very high taxes... it's also about what you value as a society... and if you're willing to pay for it...

it will always be here, but I think you can greatly minimize it...

?yeah, countries with no welfare have no poverty... right?

Print your own money and distribute it to the poor. There are billions of poor people in the world and most of the work hard for a living and are and will still be poor living below the proverty level. Or have you not heard of the working poor. People with wealth don't share their wealth they get richer and rob the poor of the little they have. Just ask big Oil what they have done for the poor lately.

There are so many programs to help people get off of the streets. Have you ever considered that some people might actually want to stay on the streets?

All of the growth of poverty in the U.S. is caused by illegal aliens. Each time an illegal alien crosses the border the poverty level increases.

Illegal aliens makes 300,000 babies yearly.

What makes you think there IS a workable solution to your question? Focus on things you can change. Some people are "victims" or otherwise unfortunate. Most people here are too d*** lazy or stupid to earn their daily keep. They prefer to watch others toil in their stead. Those who have made that bed deserve to lie in it.
