It was a baby phat purse. I was sitting next to a lady for a few minutes and then she got up and moved to another part of the train. She accidentally left her purse and when I got off the train, I took it and it had about $30 and some pictures in it. Nothing really valuable like credit cards or a cell phone or anything, but I'm pretty sure she is upset right about now. Am I wrong? I am really broke and the job situation isn't going too well for me, but I guess that's my problem and I shouldn't take it out on other people. Well I already spent half the money, and I have the purse with me at home and I don't have any idea who the woman is or anything. What would you have done????????

If it was your purse, wouldn't you want it returned?

Legally you should put an add in the paper saying you found a purse on the train (say what train what time, etc.) for at least a month. After 6 months if no one claims the purse the money is legally yours. But if it would have been me I would have really tried a lot harder to get the purse back to the woman. I believe that everything comes back to you threefold....maybe that's why you are so broke.

Well i would have definitly gave her the purse as soon as i realized she left it behind. I also dont have very much money, but that would never be the answer. Im a strong believer of "what goes around, come around" and I would not wish that on myself. You should return the money and the purse to the train station where you last saw her, at a lost and found. She will be grateful and best of all you will know you have done something wonderful. God sees and knows all, follow your heart always.

Well, first of all you are a thief and you should be ashamed of yourself!

Secondly, when you saw that she left her purse and moved to another part of the train, you should have taken the purse to her or at the very least called after her and told her to come back and get her purse.

Irregardless of the fact that you are really broke and that your job is not going well, you had no right to take the womans purse.

I think life put on some really good deals like this from time to time.

I would have call the woman ASP and gave her her purse as she left it.

I know you needed the money so u used it. I think you should cal the lady tell return her purse and tell her you cant do it right now but you will pay her back as as soon as you can.

Most of the time something things are more valuable for you because of the sentimental attachment than for the money cost.

Yes, you are wrong as I think you alrerady know that , or you wouldn't be asking this question. I would have turned in the purse and the money to lost and found. If I were you you I'd some up with the 30 bucks and turn purse in. You have created bad Karma for yourself and thats the only way to turn it around -- by that I mean what goes around comes around.

yes, you are wrong for that...what if SHE really needed that money for groceries for her family or for other things she needed? Everyone goes through hard times...

It's Karma...what comes around goes around. One day you will have the same done to you. I would have done any of the following: I would have turned it in to someone (possible lost and found) at the station or to the police department. Isn't there a driver's license in it? If the driver's license was in it, I would have either sent it to her by mail or gone by her home to give it to her.

I remember one time I lost a $100 in my purse, and it was all I had left for two weeks. I couldn't buy baby food, and I had to BORROW enough money from someone...that meant I had to pay it back. My purse was later recovered without the money. I was glad to have my i.d. back, but I was sick to my stomach that my baby was out of baby food, and I had to borrow money just so that my baby wouldn't starve to death.

You already know you were wrong - Not knowing who the woman is cannot be an excuse for taking the purse home with you and spending the money - you should have left it with the conductor. Bad karma . . .

And if it were YOUR purse that got taken by somebody else? How would you feel when you went to the lost and found hoping someone honest turned it in, but having a sick sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach knowing that it was probably futile because the world is full of selfish dishonest people?

You should return it. Im not juding you or anything, and I know how it feels (really) to be in a situation where I have litteraly NO money and creditcard bills, and NO job... but you have to do the right thing and return her purse... if you are feeling ashamed, replace the money and turn it in to your police station. They'll get it to her.

If it has any Id cards or social security cards and things like that that are a pain in the *** to replace. I would atleast return those. I found a wallet on the bus a month ago with no money in it and i returned it to the guy... Just think, if it was yours wouldnt you want someone to return atleast your Id cards and ****?
