Grassburrs and Goatheads. They are both a big time problem here in Comanchero land bro. Gassburrs are a grass themselves. Goatheads are a annual vining weed that grows flat to the surface of the soil and has small yellow blooms on them. The cockleburr is a taller plant that looks similar to an okra or cotton plant and grows to the same height.

Stickers is right. Sand burrs or grass burrs. The goat head is another variety that grows in dry and poor soil. Sandburrs grow in lawns and are hell to get rid of. But every thing here either sticks you, scratches you or stabs you. Stickers, goatheads, cactus, devils claws, cat claws, cockle burrs, needle grass, beggers lice, ticks, leeches, fleas, chiggers, wasps, ants, now fire ants, scorpions, thorns of various kinds. grass seeds that dig into socks, bees, bumble bees, sugar bees, mesquites, hornets, yellow jackets, saw bugs, giant wasps that kill chicadas, ground hornets, rattlesnakes, water moccasins, copper heads, polly wogs and jumping cactus ( tasajia). Come on down go for a walk in nature:^)

I don't know the formal name, but I live in Texas and would be more than happy to ship you an unlimited supply of them.

There are beggar's lice (little flat things that attach to every fiber from cotton to pet fur) and then the burrs (the balls with spikes all over them). Which would you prefer?

Are you talking about those little balls with the spikes on them? They were called cocklespurs, the pesty things.
