Carolyn G. Hart, I also like Tess Gerritson, and although this isn't quite in the same genre, if you like Janet Evanovich, you may also like Carl Hiasaan.

I found Kim Harrison to have excellent characters, almost like Janet Evanovich, but with a more supernatural touch, so if you have religious convictions against witches, don't read it.

Try a new author. Lisa Unger's Beautiful Lies - it's now out in paperback. It is a very well written story. The sequel is out now too. Pax - C
