I would have to go with DC. They offer a wider variety of comics than Marvel does at this point. But......
Although I think DC's superhero stuff tends to attract better writers and crossovers seem better executed, I just can't get into the characters. I've tried but they just don't interest me. The only DC Superhero book I read is All Star Superman. So as far as superhero books go, I like Marvel better.
I feel like I can more easily identify with Marvel Superheroes, since most were regular joes before they got their powers. That's why characters like Spider-man and the X-Men have so much appeal to me.
DC's Vertigo line has some of the best books a mainstream company can offer. Y the Last Man, Fables and it's spin-offs, and the various minis by writers like Grant Morrison, have been really good!
And we can't forget that Wildstorm is also owned by DC!
I love Ex-Machina, Astro City, and there has been many other great reads published through Wildstorm, and this line too attracts great writers like Warren Ellis.
I wish Marvel could get a line like Vertigo going, but Marvel's editors and people in charge, for the most part, seem unwilling to publish books that are not superhero related. They also don't give the lines the do try a real chance.
The MAX line had a lot of promise. I really liked Supreme Power, and I heard lots of positive feed back about the Punisher, and Alias. But when the line didn't meet the profit margin, Marvel pulled the plug on the line. I guess they don't have a large company like Warner Brothers to back them up like DC, but it still stinks that they canned the line.

Both have been good at various times. DC ruled from the 30s through the 50s. Marvel was best in the 60s through 80s. In the 90s, it was DC that was better again. Since the 1990s, you really have to dig around for quality, though. Just about everything in print right now that's not a reprint isn't worth its cover price.

Depends upon your criteria. I think Marvel has better writers at this point as well as better storylines. the entire OYL thing in DC made me drop most of their titles because it was too confusing and I didn't like many of the changes they made, like turning Batgirl into a psycho, breaking up Dick and Babs and turning Dick into a model (where'd that awful idea come from?) and giving Catwoman a baby. I'm only reading Batman and Detective these days, and I'm mostly just buying them and not bothering to read them. Marvel, on the other hand, has some good stories now with the Initiative, tony Stark's new fascist takeover of the world, and the underground civil war. Plus we're getting World War Hulk this summer.
For the moment Marvel's better, IMO. But it always changes. Ten years ago DC had the best writers, and they will again at some point.

I like DC alot. Don't get me wrong, Marvel's great, but they'd be nothing without Stan Lee. Now Stan Lee's definetely a better comic author, but DC is better as a collective company. I also like alot of the DC heroes more than the Marvel guys. There's Batman, Superman, Teen Titans, Green Lantern, etc. Marvel's got some good ones, like Iron Man, Luke Cage, Thor, Hulk, Wolverine, and of course, Spiderman. But then at the same time, they have Captain America (who I call Captain Propoganda), Ghost Rider, and the Fantastic Four (AKA Crap-tastic Four). But then, DC has Aquaman, so it's not like they're perfect either.

I like Marvel better. The characters are a little easier to relate to. DC comics would destroy Marvel in a cage match though. I mean, who can beat Superman.

I like the rich history of DC comics. Marvel is great also but DC comprise several lines it aborbed (Quality Comics, Fawcett etc.) and their heros were often the archtypes all others followed.
