That depends on several factors, intent being a major one. The most important one is, what about it concerns you. Be true to yourself in the "big picture" of damage done over energy expended setting the record straight. If the person is just trying to grab attention, and everyone knows it, can you allow time to make the real fool apparent?

That all depends on if you are an academic or if you can be held liable for what they are misquoting you as saying. The more important your reputation is to you the more likely you are to make an issue out of a misquote. Of course setting them stright may still be too little too late. I just handle things on a case by case basis....And, you can misquote me on that....I meant you can quote me on that Miss.

very important because then someone else may misquote THAT person under my name and the whole thing is out of whack.

Didn't you every play that telephone game at school where one person makes a simple statement and passes it on in a circle then by the time it comes back to the original speaker, the quote is nothing like was said.

I'd want you to set me straight! (why am I all of a sudden nervous?) I quote everyone of wisdom. Makes me look smaaaaart. lol Now a return question is, do you react positively of negatively to this misquotation? They say imitation is the highest form of flattery! So, I'll imitate you, but hopefully correctly! No, I won't dye my hair red. Lets just stick with the wisdom part shall we?

Very. I have been misquoted often in the newspaper. I make it a point to hunt down the reporter and give him a tongue lashing.

It's very important to set them straight. If they're going to quote something from me, they'd better say it right
