they say "be yourself" when increased confidence is not MY TRUE SELF and it feel awkward at times , but i still want to continue ..another thing bothering me is i believe i have copied some1 else's character ( in the sense i talk little like him , start retorting if i have too like my him (my good friend) , i dunno if im happy copying some1else....
and the last ...my friends keep telling me things " So look whos the cool guy here" , "looks who owns the place " and stuff like that , because i have increased confidence now ...should i change back to not being confident ?
any1 who has felt this way ,please tell me what to do...im still going to be confident and try to improve but what about the copying character thing?

Okay, first of all, if you have to ask a bunch of strangers if you should be confident, then you're probably not confident. You're just pretending to be. In which case you might be coming across to some as cocky and insincere. All this time you've been pretending to be confident must've taught you something--that you are actually capable of being somewhat cool and popular. Why not start believing in yourself so that you can be yourself and be confident for real now?

Well, I've heard that if you "fake" anything long enough, you will start to believe it. So keep trying! But, on the other hand, there is a fine line between confident and cocky...so just be careful.

Best of luck!

if you are yourself you should be confident and stand up for idea's and what not....and if your friends being an *** about it tell him so....that should knock him down a few notches and let you continue to grow.....just wait till last years of high school it all falls into place

Sometimes if your associate with a person constantly you tend to take on their personality. I don't know why. Perhaps you should find some new friends.

try to have a distinguished personality that everyone would go like "oh thats ___ speaking". I had that problem, but its solvable with talking to alot of nice people, and i emphasize NICE alot, because if you start speaking to not nice people, your delicate personality will mend. mine almost did.
