Someone I know told me do "Die in a fire" on IM messenger. This person has some temper issues and I wouldn't be surprised if he did it, set my house on fire. Should i take this serious? or let it blow over? We were arguing pretty bad.

You should take all threats seriously especially if you know that the person making them has temper issues. Keep the IM in your files and print it out too if you can just in case you need it as evidence. Also if you are seriously worried about it and think something may happen report it to the police and to IM messenger. Also you might want to block the person that made the threat.

You never know anymore. People follow through with their threats more now adays than ever before. If I were you I would at least talk to the authorities about this person, maybe you could get a restraining order or something. It sounds threatening to me. God Bless you and keep you safe. AMEN

In a situation like that. No one is ever sure what will happen. I guess you can either make an escape plan for if he really did set your house on fire or if he would come to your house at all. Or you could get the authorities involved.

But really though, from something like that argument. It just dosen't seem like someone in the right mind will do that.

Well i had this friend i met one time at camp. I thought she was my friend and all of a sudden she turned on me and she starting cussing me out on IM also. And she told me to "go burn in hell" i don't know if you would take it as a threat. It depends if the person would actually do something like that!... I personally don't think it's that big of a threat, but since you said you wouldnt be surprised, you might want to be carefull. I hope this helped.

Print the transcript and keep it with you just in case something happens. If you feel it's a serious threat take it to the police. They might see it as something serious. Remember tho, if you said anything back that can be considered a threat as well.

I don't know... if you think he could be serious, I'd listen to my instincts. I mean... he was pretty specific; not just "die", but "die in a fire." It's a little different from the usual idle threat. Better safe than dead.

I don't know this person well enough, and don't know the context that it was said in well enough, but I would say just stay cautious, and let those living with you know, so they can be on the lookout too...

I wouldn't do anything involving the police just yet, but maybe mention it to your family and top up your house insurance, just incase.
