Turtles,Tortoise or Terrapin are all of the same order.There isn't really anything different about them.Though they are referred differently due to where they can be found.A turtle is found in the sea,A terrapin is found in fresh or brackish waters and the tortoise is found on land.

They have different diets and a turtle lives mostly in water tortoises don't. Hope that's the answer you were looking for. :P
