My best friend has been really, really rude to me lately, and I dont know what wrong. I cant ask herm because she will say "nothing." It all started three weeks ago when she came over to my house for a sleepover, and we were talking about this guy we both like, lets call him bob. Now Bob talks to her alot, but he talks to me too. She says IM a freak, Im gothic, and all those rude comments.(im not gothic by the way) She asks me if I get jealous when she talks to him, and I say no, and I ask her is she gets jeakous when I talk to bob, and she says no, but you can tell she is. Then she blabbed that I liked him to our guy friend. I dont know whats wrong with her. What should I say to her? She is really hurting my feelings. I asked her to ask Bob if he cared if I had his e-mail and he said he didn't, but know I wonder what he actually said. I was sick that day, so I dont know. I dont think I should believe her. What should I do? Is she jealous?

I am very dependant on her, as in i am VERY shy, and she is out-going. She can talk to Bob easily, while I feel like I cant. We have been best friends for 8 years, and this is the first time she really ever acted like this.

Well I would say that she isn't your friend at all. She's being manipulative and devious and it's quite obvious that she wants to hurt your feelings. She is trying to assert dominance over you. In other words, she likes having the perks of being your "best friend" but it seems she doesn't want to return the favor. If you feel it is necessary then confront her about it and tell her in no uncertain terms that she should not act this way if she wants to remain your friend. Although if I was you I would just stop talking to her altogether.

As for the guy, if he's worth having around (i.e. you want to be with him) then he'll realize what your friend is doing and he'll cut ties with her as well. Although it probably wouldn't hurt to talk to him about it.

She is jealous. She is superficial. She is letting some boy who "may" like her come between you and her. She is lying about you. She is a gossip. She is hurtful. She is mean.

About the only thing she is not, is a friend.
