It depends on the person, I suppose. If someone truly hates a person or persons, they could want to get stronger to stick it to the others. Or the hate can sink them into a deep depression.

If you love someone deeply, you could be driven to be the best person for them, or you could get lazy, thinking "They love me just the way I am".

So, it goes both ways.

Although hate can be a motivator, love is a much better motivator than hate. Some people, for example, may be motivated by the obstacle of being told that they can't do something. Women's suffrage and other equal rights movements are based on this premise. However, if you've ever been motivated in this way, you also know that the hate, although it drives you, leaves you torn and battered at the end of a long journey. Love on the other hand can motivate a single woman to get an education for the sake of bettering her children's future. It can motivate a physically challenged person to show the world the potential and determination of humanity to overcome obstacles. It can lead a family in persecution to freedom despite the hate of oppressors. And in the end it leaves those whom it has motivated with inspiration and happiness beyond belief. Love is, after all the very thing that has motivated all of the great leaders of our times and past. Martin Luther, Mohamad, and Christ himself. Yes, love is the greatest motivator of all!

Hate is probably a stronger motivator but it's like making
a deal with the devil. Feels good at the time until you
find out you've lost your soul.

Discontent is the engine that runs the world, so I would say hate has more potential. However, while it does motivate a person to take action, it does not necessarily improve their condition

Without a doubt Love. But understand that Hate is only possible because of Love & the two are always connected. You can Hate someone who hurts someone you Love deeply and that motivates, let's say, feelings or actions of revenge. You Hate your ex-lover because he or she hurt you deeply. But they were only able to hurt you that deeply because you Loved equally as deep.

I would hope that you'd choose love, hate is an awful motivator. Love lasts much longer and is obviously a more positive choice. I would like to know more details of what it is that you're trying to accomplish before I tell you anything else. I hope you only want to do good things?? HCP

when you love someone - you'll do anything
you'll do all the crazy things that you can't explain
you'll shoot the moon - put out the sun
you'll deny the truth - believe a lie
there'll be times that you'll believe you could really fly
but your lonely nights - have just begun
when you love someone - you'll feel it deep inside
and nothin else can ever change your mind
when you love someone - you'll sacrifice
you'd give it everything you got and you won't think twice
you'd risk it all - no matter what may come

good luck in love

Both because the difference between love can quickly turns to hate and vice versa

hate is more forceful and immediate, love takes time to establish itself as worth the trouble. once that is done, both are equally amazing motivators.
