Now THERE is a bald assertion that calls for evidence.
I wouldn't think Jerry Spring is an "icon" in even a third of American households, much less most. Because someone may watch the show, this does not equate with being an icon.

Is that what you want to believe?
I'm going to guess that you're British. Forgive me if you're not. You've seen the Springer show and found it appalling -- just as tens of millions of Americans do, by the way -- and you either believe or would like to believe that it's representative of the entire country. I mean, what can I say to that? It's as though an American read an issue of the Daily Mail and then went on Yahoo! to ask why all Brits were xenophobic.
The U.S. is a big, big diverse country. Learn about it.

Nope. Watching the crazy, ignorant, incestuous scum on Jerry Springer makes us all feel better about our own lives. We can point and say "I don't have a job or any money but at least I don't sleep with my father's boyfriend's daughter!"

Because there are more lazy white trash in America than people who work for a living. Those of us who work have to put food in the mouths of those who stay home watching such rubbish.

No-because most of us remember back when his guests could really fight, and that was way more interesting than the show's subject(s)...LOL!

He got the format for his show from a BBC program. So guess that speaks for itself.
