Let's see. I have this matchbook cover, can I do it on that? As noted below, there are simple nitrates and nitrites of almost any element that resembles a metal, plus ammonia and ammonium salts of almost anything that resembles a cation, plus you can make nitrates with organic alcohols by the carload, nitro, dinitro, and trinitro compounds with benzene, toluene, picric acid, phenols, ammonium esters of acids, some cool explosives like RDX, HMX, nitroguanidine etc.

For organics use these sources

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amine

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amide

and using those templates you can pretty much come up w/ anything. just change the number of carbons haha

also anything w/ the cyanide ion. CN
