I need help Writing these functions?

Question

Allied Auto Towing charges: $45 hook up within a 2-mile radius, and $2 per mile for any towing over 2 miles.
Hank's Towing charges: $40 hook up within a 3-mile radius, and $3 per mile for any towing over 3 miles.
Speedy Towing Service Inc. charges a flat towing rate of $75.00, but will not tow anything over 20 miles.

Your car needs to be towed 17 miles to your uncle's store where he say's he'll fix it for free if you can get it there.
How much will it cost you using Allied? How much will it cost you using Sal's? How much will it cost you using Speedy?
Which company is your best bet? Why?

1)Write a function for each of the three towing companies, making sure each one is labeled.

2.) Write out a cost for f(17) for each towing company.

3.) Explain which company is your best bet and why.

Answer 1

Allied = 45 + 2(d-2)
Hanks = 40 + 3(d-3)
Speedy = 75

For 17 miles
Allied = 45 + 2 (15) = 75
Hanks = 40 + 3(14) = 82
Speedy = 75

Best deal is Allied. Even if it is same price as Speedy. If uncle cannot fix your car, it will need to be towed back again. This will then exceed the Speedy limit. :)
